Broadacres Staircasing Privacy Notice for Stairpay Platform

We know that your privacy matters. So, we have produced this leaflet to explain what personal information we may collect from you when using the Stairpay system, how and why we use your information, and when we might share it with others. We will also explain your rights relating to your information, and how we store and transfer it.

Personal information we may collect from you

This may include:

  • Your name, address and other contact details, including telephone number(s) and email address
  • Property information relating to your shared ownership home
  • Information about your finances that you choose to provide, such as income, expenditure, mortgage details and savings
  • Your marketing consents
  • Information about how you use the Stairpay platform

How and why we use your information

We use your information to provide staircasing support, including:

  • helping you understand whether you may be able to increase your share in your home
  • providing tools and insights to support your decision-making
  • communicating with you about staircasing opportunities
  • improving how we support our shared ownership customers

We rely on legitimate interests to provide this service, ensuring we balance this against your rights and interests.

Where we send you email or text communications about staircasing, we will do so in line with marketing regulations, and you will always have the ability to opt out.

Profiling

As part of this service, we will analyse the information you provide to offer personalised insights and tailored communications about staircasing opportunities based on your affordability. This helps us provide relevant and timely support. It does not result in any decisions being made about you automatically that would have legal or similarly significant effects.

You have the right to object to this type of processing at any time.

When we might share your information with others

We work with Stairpay, who provide the platform on our behalf and act as a data processor.

We may also share information with trusted service providers who support the delivery of the system (for example, secure IT providers), all under strict contractual controls.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

How we store and transfer your information 

  • We store your information on the Stairpay platform which is within the United Kingdom (UK). We hold this information securely, with robust technical measures such as passwords and encryption. 
  • Although everything we do is in the UK, we may need to transfer information outside the UK where our contractors or suppliers operate or hold information outside the UK. Before we do this, we will ensure there is adequate protection to keep your information secure. 

How long we keep your information

We will only keep your information for as long as necessary, including:

  • while you remain a Broadacres shared ownership customer
  • until you sell your property or stop using the Stairpay service
  • in line with legal and regulatory requirements

Your rights 

Data protection law gives you rights relating to your personal information. These include: 

  • The right to see information we hold about you.  
  • The right to make us correct your personal information if it is not accurate. 
  • The right in certain circumstances to “be forgotten”, that is, for us to delete information we hold about you. 
  • The right to withdraw consent to some use of your personal information.  
  • The right to object to processing
